Day #3 - Community of Cerro Hermoso. In collaboration with Palmarito Sea Turtle Rescue Center and the Biological Reserve Cerro Hermoso, we were able to spay and neuter cats and dogs in this small fishing town. This was a very successful day and we did not have enough time to finish the long list of patients that showed up to the campaign. During our spay/neuter campaign in the coastal area of Oaxaca, we saw this interesting case that is very common in costal areas around the world. We were getting ready to perform neuter surgery on this dog, and right after injecting his sedation, he vomited two baby sea turtles. It is very common to have dogs wondering around the coastal area, digging nests, eating eggs and killing babies sea turtles. With the support from the community of California, we were able to provide trap cameras to the Chacahua National Park rangers to continue the research of identifying new species of fauna.
